Basilica of Madonna delle Grazie

The construction of the basilica was promoted as a vow by the municipality in 1837, during a cholera epidemic.
The basilica was founded in neoclassical style, with a Greek cross plan. It houses a 16th-century statue of the Virgin. In front, there is a pronaos with six pillars and above it are six statues of Benevento’s patron saints (St Bartholomew, St Gennaro, St Barbato, St Francis, St Anthony and St Roch).
The basilica was named ‘madonna delle grazie’ after the patron saint of the city of Beneveno and the entire Sannio region. The Madonna is celebrated on 02 July.
