Hector’s Castle

The castle of Hector was built in the 8th century and dominates the valleys and rivers of: Calore, Ufita, Miscano, San Andrea and the ancient village of Apice. The building originally consisted of four towers with a decagonal plan (currently two remain). From these towers started dungeons and tunnels that were used as escape points in case of siege. Over the years, the castle was restored numerous times; today, in addition to being an exhibition site for various archaeological finds discovered during the restoration work, it is also home to a museum of Contemporary and Peasant Art and various cultural activities.

The museum is equipped with a lift.
