Durazzano borders geographically with the province of Caserta and is an important agricultural and commercial centre.
The earliest documented historical records date back to 1311, when it was owned by the De Sus di Francia family, before becoming the property of Count Baldassarre Della Ratta, followed by the Caracciolo, Spinelli, D’aquino, Carafa, Tomacelli, Loffredo and the Gargano family.
In 1809 it was capital of the District of Nola, in 1816 it was a municipality of Sant’Agata de’Goti and after the unification of Italy Durazzano was aggregated to the province of Benevento.
Today, the population of Durazzano is around 2200 inhabitants.
The coat of arms of the municipality of Durazzano is represented by a blue background, a black eagle and two golden lions whose paws rest on a green hill.
