Description of the museum : Civic Museum
The museum is located in comune di Montefalcone di Val Fortore in the province of Benevento.
More than 4,000 exhibits from different geological eras on a time scale of millions of years are displayed in the museum.
One of the rooms has an exhibition panel to illustrate the evolution of life on earth: tracing the evolutionary stages of human beings. Replicas of Lucy’s bones, footprints found in Letoli (in Africa), replicas of human skulls, exhibited a time span of 8 to 1 million years ago, from the original hominid to Homo sapiens.

Monday: weekly closing. Tuesday and Wednesday: 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Thursday and Friday: 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday: open upon request.
