Janua – Witches’ Museum

Description of the museum : Janua – Witches’ Museum

The museum is located in comune di Benevento in the province of Benevento.

The Witches’ Museum is an exhibition that completely immerses visitors in a symbolic, mysterious and passionate world, discovering the traditions and legends of Benevento and Sannio. A unique experience between two worlds, between earth and moon.

On 23 June 2017, the first part of the Cooperative Museum was opened to the public, consisting of a multimedia section produced and realised by the Cooperative Ar.eCa. entitled ‘Janare, the witches of Benevento’. The setting, the scenographic layout and the exceptional visual impact of the images reproduced on a large scale are waiting to be discovered.

A year later, the second exhibition area called ‘Sanare e Scongiurare – Le Erbe di Janua’ was opened, an area dedicated to exploring the mysterious world of ‘folk medicine’. The room is made up of various objects, such as: the holy card, the anthropomorphic bread, the power of herbs, etc.
