Discover the municipality of Baselice
The town of Baselice is located at 55 km of Benevento and is located at an altitude of 620 meters.Baselice is a village located in the upper part of the Fortore Valley. Archaeological findings show that the area was inhabited before Roman times.
The first bibliographic mention dates are from the year one thousand, when it was mentioned in the catalogue of the Norman barons.
It was the territory of Roberto Drago and Raimundo Di Molise. Later it was in the hands of the Mastrali brothers and then in 1454 of Alfonso of Aragon, who then assigned it to the Guevara family. Caracciolo, Carafa and Rinuccini, were in possession of it until the abolition of the feudal system in 1806.
Initially, the town of Baselice was united within the province of Campobasso and then integrated under the province of Benevento.
Today, the population of Baselice is around 2,600 and the local production consists mainly of cereals, wine, oil and fruit. Well known among the wines produced is Moscato.

From Pescara: take the A14 motorway, exit Termoli and continue in direction Boiano – Benevento. Then continue in direction Pietrelcina, Pesco Sannita, San Marco dei Cavoti, Foiano Valfortore. After 7 km, at the intersection, stay on the left in direction of Baselice.
From Rome: take the A1 motorway, exit Caianello and continue in direction of Benevento. Then continue in direction of Pietrelcina, Pesco Sannita, San Marco dei Cavoti, Foiano Valfortore. After 7 km, at the junction, stay on the left in direction of Baselice.
From Naples – Caserta: take the A1 motorway, exit Caserta Sud – Maddaloni. Then follow the Appia state road 7 (direction Montesarchio – Benevento) and take direction Pietrelcina, Pesco Sannita, San Marco dei Cavoti, Foiano Valfortore. After 7 km, at the intersection, stay on the left in direction of Baselice.
From Salerno – Avellino: take the A16 motorway, exit Benevento. Continue along the motorway junction in direction of Pietrelcina, Pesco Sannita, San Marco dei Cavoti, Foiano Valfortore. After 7 km, at the intersection, stay on the left in direction of Baselice.
From Bari: take the A16 motorway, exit Benevento. Continue along the motorway junction in direction of Pietrelcina, Pesco Sannita, San Marco dei Cavoti, Foiano Valfortore. After 7 km, at the junction, stay on the left in direction of Baselice.
