Discover the municipality of Dugenta

The town of Dugenta is located at 42 km of Benevento and is located at an altitude of 55 meters.

The town of Dugenta is located on the border between Benevento and Caserta, lying along the Volturno river valley and surrounded by the hills of Frasso Telesino, Limatola, Sant’Agata de’ Goti and Melizzando. The municipality has always been particularly important due to its geographical position.

The first historical information dates back to the 9th century. It was first a fief of Andrea Di Capua, and then passed to the Monsorio family, the Loffredo family and finally belonged to the Cossa family, who owned it until the abolition of feudality.
In 1648, the territory passed into the hands of the Duke of Guise and later, in 1734, it passed into the hands of Charles III of Bourbon during his advance to conquer the kingdom of Naples. Over the centuries, especially in Norman and Aragonese times, it was the scene of continuous and significant battles.

Today, Dugenta has a population of around 2700 inhabitants. The town is famous for its wines such as Sannio Falanghina and Aglianico.
The municipality also produces: oil, apples and D.O.P. mozzarella.

How to get to Dugenta ?

From Pescara: take the A14 motorway, exit Termoli and continue in direction of Ururi – Larino. Once through Larino and Casacalenda, follow towards the SS87 Guardiaregia – Benevento. Then follow towards the A1 Milan – Naples – Telese and exit at Dugenta – Guardia Sanframondi – Solopaca and Frasso Telesino. Continue towards Naples – Caserta, exit onto the SS265 Dugenta – Limatola and continue towards Dugenta.

From Rome: take the A1 motorway, exit Santa Maria Capua Vetere. Continue in direction of Caserta – Santa Maria Capua Vetere, pass through Castel Morrone and Limatola and continue towards Dugenta.

From Naples – Caserta: take the A1 motorway, exit Caserta Sud – Maddaloni. Once through Maddaloni, take the exit towards Sant’Agata De’ Goti and Limatola. Once through Cantinella, follow the direction of Dugenta.

From Salerno – Avellino: take the A16 motorway, exit at Benevento and Dugenta – Guardia Sanframondi – Solopaca – Frasso Telesino. Continue in direction of Naples – Caserta and take the SS265 Dugenta – Limatola’s exit.

From Bari: take the A16 motorway, exit at Benevento and Dugenta – – Guardia Sanframondi – Solopaca – Frasso Telesino. Continue in the direction of Naples – Caserta and take the SS265 Dugenta – Limatola’s exit.
