Description of the museum : Municipal Museum “Enrico Sannia”

The museum is located in comune di Morcone in the province of Benevento.

The ‘Enrico Sannia’ civic museum is located inside a palace dating back to the 16th century. The latter was inhabited by an aristocratic family until the mid-20th century.
Inside the palace you can find: the civic museum, a library and a historical archive.

The civic museum exhibits: a small archaeological collection testifying to settlements in the Samnite and Roman periods, a photographic collection dating back to the late 19th century and a contemporary art collection.

Furthermore, inside the museum you can observe:

  • the kitchen, left in its original state, in which one can observe typical rural objects. Half of the house is occupied by the large chimney hood, with antique ovens and cookers.
  • a collection of bells from several ruined churches.
