Benevento Cathedral, officially known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of Santa Maria de Episcopio, has Longobard origins and a Latin cross base.
The building was extended in the 12th century and was destroyed during bombing in 1943. After the Second World War, the cathedral was rebuilt and, to this day, retains the façade of Roman origins and the bronze door.
