The municipality of Castelpoto is located in a landscape of vineyards and olive groves.
Some information on the origin of the village dates back to the first half of the 12th century.
The territory belonged to the Della Leonessa family, the Caracciolo family, and finally to the Bartoli family.
It became a municipality after the end of the feudal system in 1811, and then became part of the province of Benevento with the Unification of Italy in 1861.
Today, the municipality has approximately 1,200 inhabitants.
Among the typical products of Castelpoto is the “salsiccia rossa” (a typical dish that requires particularly elaborate preparation).
